The Role: Clinical Director

As a Clinical Director at Malu, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, high-quality, and consistent care across our clinic network. You will provide leadership across clinical operations, support practitioners, and help shape a scalable, sustainable, and evidence-based model of care, while actively contributing to the development of Malu’s digital health platform.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of mental health in Australia and support the national growth of Malu.
In the first instance, you’ll take a hands-on role across governance, operations, research, and service delivery, helping to embed best practice from the ground up. As we scale, you’ll also have the opportunity to build and lead your own team of clinical leaders and specialists around you.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred clinical services across designated clinics, digital health programs, and regions.Manage and support multidisciplinary teams including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and allied health professionals — while embracing new forms of treatment and care delivery.Ensure clinical workflows, supervision, and scheduling are optimised for both client experience and clinician well-being.Collaborate with medical, operations, and governance leaders to ensure consistent clinical excellence and compliance.Provide clinical input into the design of our digital platform for practitioners, clients, and care partners, helping to embed user-centred features and innovation into our technology stack.Take a direct and active role in clinical governance, operational planning, and early research efforts, ensuring a strong foundation for future growth.Monitor key operational and clinical KPIs including client outcomes, wait times, staff retention, and experience.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the evolution of our care model.Support internal dashboards and leadership reporting with clear operational and clinical insights.

Ideal Candidate

Registered psychologist, clinical psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, or allied health professional with proven leadership experience.Familiarity with the Australian mental health system and a strong commitment to evidence-based care.Hands-on, proactive approach to problem-solving and team management.Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, complex clinical environments, and digital innovation.Demonstrated ability to lead through change and support clinical innovation at scale.Passionate about improving mental health outcomes and clinician experience.Excited to contribute to a values-led organisation building a new model for care delivery.Eager to take ownership of key clinical functions early, while building and leading a team as the organisation grows.
