Malu Health Launches m° — A Purpose-Built Mental Healthcare Platform

The launch of m° marks an important milestone in Malu Health's journey to be a world class mental health provider.

From the very beginning, technology has been central to Malu Health's vision of delivering better mental healthcare. The goal was never simply to introduce another practice management system, but to rethink how technology can support clinicians, simplify operations and improve the client experience.

Following a year of researching existing practice management systems and tools, understanding their limitations from our clinics, and exploring opportunities for innovation, Malu worked with Orchestrated, an Australian-based software development company, to bring it to life.

The result is m° - Malu's proprietary, purpose-built mental health practice management system, designed to bring clinical operations, administration and AI-powered capabilities together in one connected platform.

Built with the people who use it

Rather than developing the platform in isolation, Malu and Orchestrated worked closely with Malu's clinicians, reception teams and administrative staff through a series of workshops to understand their daily workflows, challenges and opportunities for improvement.

This hands-on approach has been fundamental to creating a platform designed around the realities of running a mental healthcare practice, rather than requiring clinicians and teams to adapt to the limitations of existing broader allied health software.

One platform, fewer applications

Today, many healthcare practices rely on a collection of disconnected applications to manage appointments, client records, clinical documentation, billing, client communications, internal project management and phone systems.

Clinicians and administrative teams can find themselves logging into up to nine different systems, constantly switching between applications and duplicating information. This creates unnecessary complexity and consumes valuable time that could be better spent supporting clients.

m° brings these essential functions together in one integrated environment, including practice management, integrated email, AI-powered clinical scribing, intelligent AI chatbots and internal communications.

By bringing everything clinicians and administrative teams need into one platform, m° simplifies everyday workflows, reduces the need to switch between applications and allows teams to work more efficiently.

Connecting clinics, services and clients

m° goes beyond traditional practice management by creating the technology foundation for a connected network of mental healthcare services.

Clients often require different types of support throughout their mental health journey. Navigating between services, clinicians and clinics can be complex and fragmented.

By connecting Malu's clinics and services through one platform, m° is designed to support seamless internal cross-referrals, care coordination and transitions between services.

This will help Malu deliver a more connected client experience, making it easier for people to access the right care at the right time as their needs evolve.

AI that supports the users

A defining feature of m° is its AI-native architecture, designed to embed intelligent tools directly into clinical and operational workflows.

The platform's AI capabilities are being developed to support clinicians and administrative teams throughout their daily work. This includes helping clinicians prepare for appointments with relevant client information, supporting clinical documentation through AI-powered scribing during sessions, and assisting with summaries, notes and follow-up tasks afterwards.

Integrated AI chatbots and intelligent tools will also support reception and administrative teams by simplifying routine processes, reducing manual work and helping teams manage their daily responsibilities more efficiently.

Importantly, AI is not intended to replace clinicians or their professional judgement. Instead, it provides intelligent support that reduces administrative demands and allows clinicians to focus more of their time and attention on delivering quality care.

The launch of m° represents the first major milestone in Malu's technology strategy, with significant opportunities still ahead.

While m° is already an advanced platform, Malu continues to challenge itself to develop new features and enhancements, driven by feedback from clinicians, reception teams and other users.

As AI technology continues to advance, Malu intends to further expand the platform's capabilities, introducing new tools and improvements that support its clinics and clients.
